She had read to </div><div>always keep a main dish frozen and ready to deliver</div><div>in case of a death, birth, illness, etc. </div><div> I usually have some meals fixed and in the freezer </div><div>for us to eat but now I have added 1 dish that is </div><div>"to go" ready should the need arise. If I don't have to </div><div>use it in the next few months then we'll eat it and I'll</div><div>make another one to keep in the "just incase someone is </div><div>in need" dish. I always right the ingredients and directions</div><div>on the foil lid so whomever receives it knows exactly what is.</div><div>Don't know why had never thought of doing this before. Thank</div><div>goodness for helpful hints in magazines.</div>Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-29499426301818717872010-04-04T13:45:00.001-07:002010-04-04T15:47:17.643-07:00Happy EasterI love Easter! I love all holidays but the promise that comes with<div>Easter is the greatest gift of all. This in one of our family traditions!</div><div>We have made resurrection rolls twice in the past few days. </div><div>Such a great way for the kids to help and to hear and continue</div><div>to learn the real meaning of Easter. Hope you'll try them!</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.dltk-kids.com/recipes/resurrection_rolls.htm">Resurrection Rolls</a></div>Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-33340269237361637402010-04-03T15:59:00.000-07:002010-04-03T17:04:18.273-07:00Cooking AheadHere are the things I cooked up to keep on hand. This saves so much time <div>and money. Hope you find something you would like to try!</div><div><br /></div><div>Make Ahead Breakfast</div><div>1 lb sausage (cook & drain)</div><div>2 slices of bread </div><div>1 c shredded cheddar cheese</div><div>6 eggs</div><div>2 c milk</div><div>1/2 tsp salt</div><div>1/2 tsp dry mustard</div><div><br /></div><div>Break bread into 1/2 inch pieces and spread in a dish that has been buttered. (9x13)</div><div>Top with the sausage and cheese. Beat eggs and combine with milk & seasoning. Pour over cheese. Cover and refrigerate (or freeze) overnight. Bake for 30-40 min. @ 350 when you are ready to eat it. </div><div>*I usually take this to new mothers or church when it's our turn to bring snacks since it's easy and is supposed to be made ahead. </div><div><br /></div><div>E-Z Chicken Casserole</div><div>1 lb chicken ( about 4 breasts) cooked and cut up</div><div>1 can Cream of chicken soup</div><div>8 oz sour cream</div><div>Poppy Seeds</div><div>1 stick melted butter</div><div>1 sleeve or Ritz crackers</div><div><br /></div><div>Place chicken in a baking dish. Add soup and sour cream. Stir. Add poppy seeds-I just sprinkle some in--maybe about 1 tsp. Crush up the sleeve of crackers and mix with melted butter. Pour over top and bake @350 for 30 min. </div><div>*To freeze, skip the crackers & butter until you are going to bake it. This is super yummy and easy to make ahead. </div><div><br /></div><div>Veg-All Casserole</div><div>2 cans Veg All (or any mixed veggies)</div><div>1 c shredded cheddar cheese</div><div>1 c mayonaise</div><div>1 c crushed Ritz crackers</div><div>1 can water chestnuts, sliced</div><div>1 small onion minced</div><div>1/2 stick butter</div><div><br /></div><div>Mix everything except crackers and place in baking dish. Place cracker crumbs on top and drizzle with butter. Bake for 30 min @ 350.</div><div>*If you are freezing, save the crackers & butter off and add when you cook.</div><div><br /></div><div>These are just a few of the things I made. Sorry there are not pictures. I assure you they are </div><div>delicious. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-39206391192617496672010-03-29T14:44:00.000-07:002010-03-29T14:51:50.206-07:00Coupon-a-holicMy name is Jamie and I am a coupon-a-holic.<div>I had to take my 2 year old to the doctor today.</div><div>When I walked in I spotted the Parents magazine.</div><div>Since I get that magazine, I knew that there was</div><div>a $1/1 Ronzoni pasta coupon. I took the magazine</div><div>to the room with us and ripped out the coupon.</div><div>(Does this make me a thief? They will just throw it</div><div>out or some other coupon-a-holic would get it.)</div><div>Then when I went to put the magazine in the rack</div><div>while in the room, there was another Parents magazine.</div><div>Yep--I took that coupon too. Then I decided to thumb </div><div>through the Rachel Ray magazine and low and behold--</div><div>another coupon. I am now is possession of 4 $1/1</div><div>coupons for the pasta that is part of Kroger's March </div><div>madness sale. I will make $$$ buying the pasta and get</div><div>4 FREE boxes of Ronzoni pasta. Love it!</div>Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-7905090353275418762010-03-22T06:22:00.000-07:002010-03-22T06:25:27.522-07:00PSSSTGeneral Mills has a program called <a href="https://pssst.generalmills.com/pages/1/aboutmgt.php?SES=235d8b66a8aef3ada1ecb4f37afe3f8a">PSST</a>.<div>I have mentioned it before. I am guilty of all 3 and I have to admit that I spend way more money when I wing it. I have started making a monthly menu. I stick to it for the most part but may draw arrows and move meals around to fit our schedule (or my taste buds). I TRY to cook a few things up ahead of time but have been lazy the past few months in doing so. Sometimes I try to brown some meat or boil some chicken so it's easy to thaw and use for casseroles or soups. I am going to stay in tonight and empty out the pantry with what I have so MAYBE I can save even more on my March groceries. Do you have a great recipe for cooking ahead and freezing?Would love for you to share it if you do. I'll let you know how my Friday evening of cooking ahead goes.Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-29515147058440852012010-02-19T17:44:00.000-08:002010-02-19T17:45:29.772-08:00Fun TimesMy House Party bag game today. I meant <div>to post these earlier. This is the transaction I did</div><div>earlier today. Again, was going to post a pic but</div><div>the battery on my camera is dead!</div><div>The main reason I did this was to get the Purex laundry</div><div>detergent. It is part of the buy 10 participating items </div><div>get $3 off at the register. Remember you have to buy</div><div>10 qualifying items. </div><div><br /></div><div>My Purchase:</div><div>2 bottles Purex Laundry Detergent</div><div>4 cans Campbell's Chunky Soup</div><div>3 Chef Boy R De microwaveable spaghettio's</div><div>1 box Betty Crocker fruit snacks</div><div><br /></div><div>coupons used:</div><div>2 $.35/1 Purex</div><div>2 $.50/2 Campbell's soup</div><div>3 $.40/1 Chef Boy R Dee microwave cups</div><div>1 $.40/1 Betty Crocker fruit snacks</div><div><br /></div><div>Don't know the exact total--but cheap--because I bought some produce too. </div><div><br /></div><div>The best part is you will get a $4 catalina coupon that prints out when you pay that </div><div>you may use on your next shopping trip to Kroger. You must purchase 2 Purex laundry detergents to get the catalina for $4.</div>Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-74834282371497476872010-02-15T12:35:00.000-08:002010-02-15T12:48:20.212-08:00Walgreen WowsThere are some great deals this week at Walgreens. <div>If you usually don't shop their, I really encourage you</div><div>to do a Wags run this week and try it out. I went this morning</div><div>and had my stuff set up to take a picture to post and the battery</div><div>on the camera is..... dead! So below is my list of things to get </div><div>this week. You will need to have coupons from the 2/7 paper </div><div>to get these bargains. </div><div><br /></div><div>Venus Embrace Razor or Spa Breeze $8.99</div><div>use $2/1 QPON and </div><div>buy select razor get Olay body wash free QPON</div><div>OOP: $2.99</div><div><br /></div><div>Gillette Fusion Razor $8.99</div><div>$4/1 QPON</div><div>You will get a $4 register reward when you check out. </div><div>OOP: $.99</div><div><br /></div><div>I had a gift card so I did not break up my transactions. </div><div>I suggest buying the Gillette Razor first and using the RR (register</div><div>reward) to purchase the Venus Razor. You will need to buy something else</div><div>as they do not give money back for register rewards. You can also</div><div>do both in one transaction and use the register reward another time. </div><div><br /></div>Saving Texas Stylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348066197567965828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429334717729766302.post-14280277673120824182010-02-12T11:43:00.001-08:002010-02-12T11:46:44.498-08:00Woo-HooI am so excited because I am going to host<div>a party compliments of <a href="http://www.houseparty.com/">Houseparty</a>.</div><div>We are going to be trying out sandwich thins.</div><div>Sounds wonderful and I have some yummy </div><div>recipes to try out!
